The home is located on a peninsula known as Catawba Island, a popular resort area in the Western basin of Lake Erie. Views of the nearby islands and the lake have been the primary generators of the organizational aspect of the plan and its orientation to the site. The house sits atop a stone outcropping in “The Cliffs” approximately 20 feet above the lake, with living areas and kitchen oriented along an axis which terminates to the north with a view of Perry’s Monument on South Bass Island.
