Project Details

Tonic is a new health and wellness center located in Maumee Ohio, which provides instruction in Pilates, yoga, and Beyond Barre.  The single story concrete block structure was formerly occupied by a ceramics studio, and was completely renovated by its new owner.  Separate spaces are provided for Pilates and yoga, and an area for private individual instruction.  A central custom designed concrete sink open from the main hall provides a pleasant entry space for showering and toilet facilities.   

The reception area includes a small office is located adjacent to the main entry.  A sitting area featuring a central fireplace and juice bar have been provided as an important part of the plan and are used for socializing and conversation. 

The Main entrance and most transparent glass has been placed at the rear of the building for privacy, but also in anticipation of future expansion which will include a spa and hair salon to be located on adjacent property to the north.  Also, further development of the site in this area will include landscape enhancements water feature, pergola, and a private area for outdoor yoga. 

Landscaping, lighting, and materials selections have been carefully considered to provide an ambiance of calm self- introspection and relaxation.  Predominant materials include ledge stone and cedar siding plus extensive utilization of Greenscreen, a welded wire trellising system, for east and west façades.
